Movie Review

At first I thought this would be a good chance at literally seeing what life inside of America is and therefore a good chance for my wife to see how Americans live life and see the world. Unfortunately this wasn't what I expected and sadly is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. American elements such as white picket fences, blue skies, a family with 2.5 kids and the sense of Freedom were present but were portrayed with a heightened sense of negativity. The movie circled around youth at Hanna high school in Texas where it showed the life of many Mexicans and how they were trying to make an American dream. Unfortunately it showed many strong prejudices and negative stereotypes of both Mexicans and Americans.

I am by no means a racist and truly do believe in the American dream for all inhabitants (illegal ones or not). The truth is that people who live in America are entitled to the basic rights of what makes us human. We all deserve the freedoms of looking for work, earning an education and learning the cultural values of others not to mention ethical and moral choices as well.

I have complained bitterly about life and hardships in Korea but I wouldn't ever want to build prejudices in the minds of my readers, or see it in a movie. What Americans know about Korea is very limited. For Americans Seoul is the capitol, they have Hyundai cars, make good phones, computers and other gadgets, eat spices and speak Korean. If there is a Korean movie shown in America I would sincerely hope that the social and political problems etc would be shown in a non-bias way with a message more positive rather than filled with such Racial profiling as the movie Inside America did.

My least favorite part was a ROTC white colonel who could speak Spanish fluently but had no respect for Mexicans and cherished his guns more than using his talents in a more constructive manner.

Anyone out there who agrees with me? This is a Movie Review hope you check it out and let me know what you think too.

  1. Gosh I really wouldn't have noticed you had so many blogs! But I clicked on ur name link and wow~ that is a lot of writing.

I've been in Busan/Yangsan for about two months now. So I haven't done tOo much in terms of exploring. Nampodong of course is great. My boyfriend's the teacher. I'm still in school (I take classes online) and I write part-time online, but I'm hoping I can generate money on a blog...I know that's a stretch though. That's what I do, but someone else owns the domain so they get all the affiliate money etc.
